Freddie Guatemala Defines ‘Real Southern Hip Hop’

FreddieGuat
ith pure appreciation for the Houston landscape and both Mexican and Guatemalan culture, rapper Freddie Guatemala channels some diverse influences into his most recent, self-titled body of work. A little bit about this emcee: Born in Guatemala, Freddie and his mother moved to the States at the age of three, settling in the Acres Homes area of Houston. By the age of 16 he began writing and freestyling. Being that this was during the Golden era of Hip Hop, it would not be a blind assumption to say that the 90s is where Freddie Guatemala derives his sense of rhyming.

‘Freddie Guatemala’ is a cool project packed with some very dope production and passionate verbiage from the Houston emcee. Each track unique in the sound they bring, with jazz, southern rock, blues, and boom-bap samples. The range of sounds backed by Freddie’s hard delivery make for an enjoyable listening experience.
