NHMO: Hey, Creamatic. Good to talk to you! What have you been up to? Music and in general?

Creamatic: Lately I just been working on my life. Realizing what’s my worth and trying to make the right decisions as I go. Not gonna lie to you, man. I’ve been off and on with music. I’ll write something but I just wouldn’t go record the material up until late last year.

NHMO: Is there a new project coming to follow up the new EP?

Creamatic: Not necessarily a new project but there will be more music. I’m not consistent with my music and I really want to put a change into that. That’s why this year, I’ve been dropping more music and interacting with my fans and creating new ones as we go.

NHMO: Who helped produce this new project?

Creamatic: I produced ‘Let Em Know’ and my boy from Cali Mal’akh Kasa made ‘Just my Thoughts’. I met him through Instagram when I dropped my track ‘High Contact’. He liked my music by peeping my SoundCloud and I liked his beats so we network and learn about our interests.

NHMO: ‘Just My Thoughts’ is such a smooth track! Your mental clarity is evident as you weave your verses so smoothly along the beat. What was your inspiration for this song? And what exactly is the thought process you go through when making a track?

Creamatic: ‘Just My Thoughts’ was inspired by reality and a challenging moment for me. When I make a song, I like to think about the listener and how can I catch their attention. Originally, I had these verses separately on two different songs until I put these two together and I just fell in love with the beat as I reemphasize the song. My thoughts were man, how would people react? Would they understand my thoughts about moving towards a bigger goal? Would they appreciate the fact that I’m still going instead of quitting? I just wanted to let people know I’m serious about this lol.

NHMO: ‘ Let Em Know’ covers the topic of doubters. Were you sending a message to doubters? Why?

Creamatic: ‘Let Em Know’ was literally made back in 2019. I made the beat on my homie’s laptop, Shaabs, and that’s when I barley touch any music. I was writing everyday and watching movies until I realized I made a song. We all got people who support and people who don’t wanna see you win. I don’t think I have doubters like that, least to knowledge, but I’m just speaking off my mind about it. Hence the “I shows you love even when you say I suck at rapping.”

NHMO: I’m loving the ‘Bronx Tale’ samples. What are your top 3 mob movies?

Creamatic: A Bronx Tale change my life not gonna lie to you. I have that movie and the soundtrack on red vinyl. We all have that one movie that you can watch no matter what scene it’s on. My top the mob films would be, in no order, A Bronx Tale, Goodfellas, Godfather 2. Honorable mention would be Casino.

NHMO: If you could collaborate on an entire album with Big, Jay, Nas or 2Pac who would you choose and why?

Creamatic: Those some big names right there. I would have to go with Nas because I feel like we would create a sound that would be refreshing for hip hop. Nas is still going and it seems like he’s gotten a lot better than most folks would say. Maybe he can show me how to get on these new beats while I can probably show him a thing or two. I mean teaching Nas something? That sounds unreal but anything is possible these days.

NHMO: What artists do you want to work with?

Creamatic: There’s not too many I wanna work with nothing bad but I like being to myself ’til I feel something is right. I would like to work with Houston’s Own MC, dude has been putting in that work like crazy. Big ups to him. Bill Fires is a producer from here, his beats are what I would imagine from the boom bap scene in the 2000s. Chief Aleel is my go to engineer for recording my music but I feel like we can make some great beats together and of course make some raps.

NHMO: What can we expect next from Creamatic?

Creamatic: If everything goes as planned, I would like to drop a video. I got a track produced by BrainOrchestra called ‘Peace!’ and that’s my summer track. It gives you an insight on where I’ve been as a person and how I’ll be maintaining while puffing a j.

NHMO: I don’t think it’s ever been asked, what is the meaning of your stage name, Creamatic?

Creamatic: Man I thought nobody would ask me that. Creamatic is divided into two things I liked as a kid. I like Wu Tang’s cream a lot growing up and I’ve struck across Illmatic. I wanted a name that people would be repeating or ask ‘WTF is a Creamatic?’. I took ‘cream’ from Wu Tang and ‘matic’ from Nas’s Illmatic. It’s a consistent flow to being it’s matic. You know like a money machine, it’s automatically counting. I’m automatically rapping.

NHMO: Let’s have a listen to your EP, out now.
