Costa Mesa Band Takers Leavers Detail The Pain Of Letting Go In New Visual

Like something straight from anime, Takers Leavers’ new visual details the pain of letting go. Their emotionally driven visual for “Fist To Wall” details the struggle of loss, evoking images from popular anime, Full Metal Alchemist. Vocalist David Baqi stated in an interview with Buzzbands.LA:

“‘Fist to Wall’ – This was the first song we wrote together for this EP. It is heavily inspired by the popular anime, Fullmetal Alchemist. From themes including: letting go, taboo, coping with loss/anger, and facing consequences, “Fist to Wall” is a desperate attempt to regain what one has lost, no matter the cost. A very important theme in Fullmetal is the idea of “equivalent exchange”, to gain something, you must first sacrifice something. In desperate times, we are pushed to great extremes, even practicing techniques that we know are harmful. The line “don’t look for answers in all of the wrong places” summarizes this pretty well.”

It is not a stretch to make a correlation between Baqi’s comment about looking for answers in all the wrong places and the sad continuing string of musicians who’ve lost their lives seeking to cope with pain using harmful methods, most notably the late hip hop artist Mac Miller. Stars aside, we all can relate to the message powerfully driven home by Takers Leavers with this track.

Takers Leavers hail from Costa Mesa, California and consist of David Baqi (vocals/guitar), Karem Idrees (bass/vocals), Robby Friend (guitar), and John Gee (drums).
