Vans Warped Tour Rocks Houston Marking The End of Iconic 24 Year-Old Festival

July 8th, 2018: Reminiscent of a Semisonic song, Vans Warped Tour’s Houston show closed for the final time.

It was a sight to behold; a plethora of bands, sponsors, and vendors converged over the concrete slab of Houston’s NRG Park. “Die-hard” fans to new concert goers showed out for the tour’s last hoorah in ‘Clutch City’. Tents of some of your favorite brands pitched high despite Sunday’s afternoon downpour. The rain even led to a momentary halt of the show for about an hour which caused all of the sets to be pushed back. Despite the rain, Houston toughed it out in the true ‘punk’ spirit of VWT.

Vans Warped Tour founder Kyle Lyman says this years lineup consists of bands who “embraced the Warped Tour lifestyle”. The music kept going all day and night panning across several stages, including the owly.fm stage, Mutant Red Dawn stage, Full Sail stage, and Journey’s stage. There was also a Texas Korner stage.

With tons of merch, awesome bands, food, and plenty of crowd surfing, Van’s Houston tour leg closed on a high note. If you missed the opportunity to see your favorite band, you may have a chance to reclaim your honor next year. Kyle Lyman told Newsweek that there are plans in motion for a 25 year anniversary celebration.
