DVN- Showing Up and Showing Out
When this Louisiana born and raised rapper shows up, you know where the party’s at.
Fresh out of Lake Charles, formally known as D3vin, DVN is creating his name all over the big state of Texas. Here at NHMO, we believe that as the ranks rise , he will become unstoppable so of course we had to see whats the noise about.
This young boss is enriched with talent, respect, and undeniably good looks. There is no way the bottom is where he belong. At the age of 24, this writer/recorder/mixer has his hands full in and outside the studio. Starting his own enrichment group, DVN shows his care for the youth as they( family& friends) help young kids find more value and equity while they pursue their ultimate goals in life. In the studio, this artist main focus is being able to relate to the general public. Which we totally understand, why make music if its not relatable? Speaking like a true artist, DVN states “I like to incorporate all different styles of hip hop into my work, East Coast, West Coast, and even South, of course”. With that , we understand why his musical influences are idol like Drake, J.Cole, Outkast, Jimi Hendrix, and even the Isley Brothers. Music isn’t just a passion for this star, its in his blood. Not being entirely focused on music until around 09-10′, music has always been an interest in the household. With his dad being in a band in earlier days and his brother being into rapping also, and with a personal passion for writing, taking this direction was inevitable for DVN. With so much going on in this artist life, you’d think that he doesn’t have too much of downtime or even a life outside of work but according to DVN he was quite blessed with the opposite. “My whole team consists of my siblings and my close friends. I love the idea of growing with the people I started with. So I see and talk to them everyday.” With a team so close, who needs outsiders?
Too top things off we asked ” A penguin walks through that door right now wearing a sombrero. What does he say and why is he here?” his reply was simple but very quirky, “I would imagine he’s probably one of those penguins from Madagascar, so I know he’s with the shits, and looking for the livest fiesta he can find”. If the face didn’t grab you, I’m sure his sense of humor and a German Shepard “Grizzly”, will surely wring you in.
