Preserving Hip Hop: Houston’s Vintage Hip Hop Flea Market Is A Movement
February 4th, 2018- Hip Hop is alive and well thanks in part to Resale Folds and Bgirl City in the city of Houston. The two join forces every first Sunday of the month to bring the Houston Hip Hop community together for a day of the five elements of Hip Hop. These include emceeing, breakdancing, graffiti, DJing, and knowledge. Each month they host the Hip Hop Vintage Flea Market where over 20 apparel vendors, graffiti artists, emcees, and breakdancers come together for the love of the art and fellowship. Though the market started only a few months ago, it has already amassed a large following of Hip Hop heads and supporters alike, revealing the demand for such events and positive reception the city has for the culture. There you will find a wide selection of hard-to-come-by vintage apparel from the 80’s and 90’s for sale by many great local vendors, including Resale Folds. Grab a Tommy Hilfiger jacket or two then enjoy the live music. Live DJ, cypher rap battles, crazy art pieces, and delicious food all create the scene at this market, along with a glorious hardwood cutout smack-down in the center floor. This is where Houstonian B-boys and B-girls come out and showcase their skills in a friendly competition. This monthly event is open to everyone of all ages and is free to attend. Hip Hop Vintage Flea Market is held at the Remax Building/ Graff lot 2011 Leeland St. Houston, Tx 77003.
