Isis Ohui Is Back and Better Than Ever On Her New EP

Houston emcee Isis Ohui is back and better than ever in her EP titled, “Better Than Ever”. Following up to her previous EP, Back 2 Reality, the new project is a slightly different Isis. On the new EP, we hear a much more raw and vulnerable Isis as she bears to listeners her intimate thoughts and tales. Right at the start of the EP with “48 Bars Intro”, the tone of the project is set as listeners soon begin to understand just exactly what they are listening to. From the start with “48 Bars Intro”, Isis Ohui sets the tone for the other tracks as we hear some quintessential, unapologetic, line-for-line poetry from this rising emcee.

In our text conversation with the Houston native artist, she stated,  “”Better Than Ever” is just a reflection of where I’m at in my life right now. It’s not that everything is all good, but rather, in due time everything will be okay. No matter what, I’m always better than ever before.”

It’s been said that we find ourselves in our toughest times, and it’s also been said that struggle makes for wonderful art. In the new EP there are hints of Isis’s past and present pains; stories of infidelity, broken family relationships, and trying to overcome against all odds. Despite these woes, Isis Ohui titles her project “Better Than Ever” as a testament that she will always come back better than ever, and with this EP we hear just that. In BTE, we hear that Ohui sounds focused, sharper in her penmanship, and bearing a “hold-no-prisoners” attitude that definitely leaves us on the lookout for this emcee.
