Night of the femme phenoms- Houston, Texas:  On August 24th, New York’s princess Destiny Frasqueri, known as Princess Nokia will be making a headline performance in NewHoustonMusic.com ‘s UNITY Women’s Art & Music Show. In support of her previously released and critically acclaimed mixtape, “1992”, Nokia has more recently included UNITY on her tour.  The show will be her first performance in Houston. Let’s welcome her to “H-Town” with a swarm of happy, hydrated faces center-stage. Making tour stops at national festivals leading up to the show, Destiny’s debut will be held at Warehouse Live.

Opening for Princess Nokia will be four outstanding Houstonian women who are honing their own creative spotlights. One of these ladies, is rapper Isis Ohui who won best opening act at last year’s Outlet Live Showcase. Tomy Riiz makes an appearance in support of her new EP, “The Crying Room” set to be released August 15th. Aphasia is a very enigmatic, and creative talent whose single, “Lover Do You Love?”, has been on repeat since the day it released by fans due to their hunger pangs for the full album. R & B band Sha Davis & The 1990s are sure to rock the house with their soulful grooves to keep everyone’s spirits lifted.

The name of the event, “Unity” is more than a name but a reference to the Hip Hop legend Queen Latifah’s 1993 hit song bearing the same name. A historical landmark for women in Hip Hop music, the song’s positive message holds true even today in 2017. NewHoustonMusic.com seeks to curate an event that provides a safe space built on positivity, respect, and tasty tacos. Enjoy food provided by Taco Cabana catering as well as vendors and painters from throughout the Texas area who share an amazing respect and knack for artistry. Pop ups by Kurvin, Wonderful Wazard, Mija Culture, Las Ofrendas, Hermanitas Botique & Flower Desert, The Regal People, and Jasmine Monsegue.
