Interview With Poetik Force: LA Artist Talks New Video, “3FT”

N: What up, Poetik Force? What have you been up to in this new year?

P: Peace World! Since the jump of the new year I been really growing spiritually and musically. Being in the studio as much as I can keeps me elevated and passionate to learn new things with music. Besides being on the production tip and writing new songs, I’ve been putting in a lot of my focus on wrapping up my new album “3FT From Gold”, and stacking my bread to invest back in my brand. Without that, we can’t move forward as independent artists.

N: That’s good to hear! So what releases are coming this year 2017?

P: This year ‘ll be releasing my 6th studio album entitled “3FT FROM GOLD” inspired by one of my favorite books, “Think and Grow Rich”. I created this album concept for people who are working so hard towards their goals, dreams, etc, and feel like they are on the brink of giving up. But if they just keep digging, they too can strike gold. Sonically, lyrically, and musically, I feel like this is my best body of work so far. I’ve always created music to inspire people, to uplift , to spread a positive message to my listeners. “3FT FROM GOLD” will definitely make that stamp!

3 Ft From Gold: (Left to Right) Funk Logik and Poetik Force strike a pose under the “larger than life” presence of a NYC skyline.

N: What was it like to film this new video? Is there anything about this video that you feel sets it apart from previous ones?

P: Filming my music video “3FT” was a really dope experience. It was a crazy feeling because it was my first time in NYC, the birth place of Hip Hop. The energy was already at an all time high. Growing up and listening to some of my biggest influences from NY like Jay[Z], Nas, Big, ATCQ, Mos Def & Talib Kweli, etc. I use to put myself in there shoes and really try to envision these stories they would rap about. I actually learned a lot about NY just by listening and studying to their lyrics. Being able to shoot our own music videos for the first time in the Big City was definitely a memorable experience.

N: What is your friend Funk Logik up to as well the rest of Asiatic Rhythms?

P: We (Asiatic Rhythms) as a collective got a lot of new records and videos dropping this year. The gawd Funk Logik just released his first beat tape “Refugee” and is focused on the next BlakFace album with Sin, “Bamboozeld”, set to release during the summer. My label mate Sean Wyze also released a project called “Lab Work”, so we just been coming with it all year. The plan is stay consistent and keep working. Heading overseas and connecting with our fans in other countries is also on our agenda. You will be seeing a lot of music from the whole team all year. The more music we continue to create and release, the more we get to grow with the people. For those who are reading this, stay inspired and never give up!
