[Photos] SLM Buzz Holds 1st Annual Support Local Music Awards 2016

1st annual Support Local Music Awards at Scout Bar. Award ceremony red carpet meet & greet hosted by New Houston Music Outlet

Houston promotion team, Support Local Music (SLM), linked with renowned Punkstar Full Throttle for this night with the stars. The SLM awards were bestowed upon 19 very deserving and talented people of varying crafts. Recognized for their hard work were musicians, models, painters, engineers, business owners, and professional athletes alike. WWE superstar Booker T made an appearance to accept the Local Sports Legend Award. Iconic punk band, The Hates, was on scene and accepted the Local Music Legend Award. Performing throughout the night on Scout Bar’s 2 stages, and its third patio stage sponsored by Reds Sound & Lighting, were 20 amazing homegrown acts. The entire night, which broadcasted live to Punkstar Full Throttle’s radio station, was a lively event that came packed with live performances by hometown heroes and favorites, free pizza from Dan’s Pizza Co, drink, live art, and vendors.

New Houston Music Outlet took took to the red carpet to host the first annual SLM Award Show meet and greet. Look below to see the photos of the event.

 

“Can You Dig It?” Hall of Fame WWE superstar, Booker T, graces the red carpet for SLM awards before receiving the Local Sports Legend Award. Booker announced this month that he will be running for mayor of Houston in 2019.

“Bringing Home Bacon”- Singer/songwriter Chris Hardy who was nominated for a whopping 6 nominations seen here posing with 3 of the categories he won including best acoustic performance and best guitarist.

“Feeling Honored”– DJ Lil B has been DJing for 9 years. Being nominated in the same category with Michael 5000 Watts, he stated that being nominated in the same category as the popular DJ was an honor. DJ Lil B won Best DJ.

“Local Music Queen”– Singer/songwriter Heidi Lirette of Support Local Music.

“Ultraviolet” -Three of the five members of hybrid rock band, Backdrop Violet. The band radiated the red carpet.

“Better Work”-Prolific Model Ashlee Disney on the red carpet. She was nominated for and won model of the year.

Visual artist Ricky Ortiz takes home award for Best New Artist. He proclaimed he’s been painting his whole life and does what he loves.

“School of Rock”– 9-year old drummer Kross Patrick hits the red carpet before tearing up his set. The young artist rocked the show, revealing that he can give any drummer twice his age a run for their money.

Host Khris Harding of Punkstar shows his game face alongside Kross Patrick and this cute kid who was happy to see all the bands.

“Houston Throwback” -Country rap tunes artist, Towdown, towers over the red carpet, posing with his signature belt buckle. He credits Big HAWK and DJ Screw for giving him his start in the music business.
